Neutral Summer Outfit
I’m calling the trend now, neutral summer outfits are going to be what every women wants this year. Why? because, well, neutrals in the summer just make sense. It’s hot- I mean way too hot, and I for one am aiming on staying cool while looking European chic. Most people gravitate toward lighter colours in the warmer months, but why not combine different shades of the same colour into one outfit? Insider secret, this strategy actually creates a simpler capsule wardrobe because when the colours are similar you can easily mix and match- mind blowing I know! I have talked about this before in my top tips for creating a smaller wardrobe, and I am now implementing this tip into my summer 2019 capsule collection.
I bought this hat years ago from Anthropologie and still continue to wear it because of the neutral, classic colour and classic style. The top and skirt are both old from H&M but I combined them to create a one piece look. I love how sheer and flowy the skirt is, it’s so beautiful when you walk. The shoes are Steve Madden from Saks Fifth Ave and the heel is so kitten small that they’re all day wearable, and versatile enough that they can be worn into the evening with a night out look.
If you’re not into neutral colours you can wear any colour of your choosing, just make sure to create your outfit with varying shades of that colour. When you do this throughout your wardrobe it really takes the guess work out of trying to coordinating a matching set, and for me it cuts getting ready in the morning in half. If you have pieces in your wardrobe that are old, and you want to throw away- try using them to create a monochromatic look and you’ll be surprised at how much you like it. There’s just something about colour matching that is the ultimate eye pleaser.
You will definitely be seeing neutral summer outfit frequently this season as I became obsessed with it during this photo shoot, I even want to pair the skirt with a sweater in the same shade (stay tuned for that- I have an idea in mind!) This hat is also a summer staple for me, when the sun hits it’s always the perfect excuse to wear hats which can be such a bold statement- I love it!
Let me know if you wear neutral summer outfits, and if you are planning on creating a capsule summer wardrobe this year.
