In todays post I’m continuing on with the topic of house dresses, and showing you 4 H&M nightgown inspired summer dresses on repeat from their Spring Summer collection.
House dresses are all the rage this summer. I mean, we’re not going anywhere right? So might as well be as comfortable as possible without sacrificing style.
But dresses that epitomize at home comfort while looking acceptable? Enter nightgown inspired summer dresses. Which basically translates to oversized, loose fitting dresses in beautiful floral prints.
I wanted to keep price in mind too since some of you may have been laid off or not working as much as normal, so all of these dresses are under $100.
Some of them are linked in the 43 House Dresses Post linked here:

Every few years H&M comes out with a collection of beautiful whimsical dresses that fit perfectly into anyones wardrobe, with a minimalist feminine and versatile style all you have to do is add a nice sandal and you’re set.
I chose 4 that I knew would get a lot of wear this summer while working from home, and that I know would easily transition into fall with layers over top.

4 Nightgown Inspired Summer Dresses You Can Buy at H&M
DRESS 1: Beige Button Front Dress
Fit: Calf-length dress with stand-up collar with decorative gathers at front, V-neck, and concealed buttons full length of front. Short, wide sleeves with sewn foldover cuffs. Seam at waist with gathered sections at front and back, narrow elastic at back, and removable tie belt. Flared skirt. Unlined. Runs small.
Fabric: 100% woven viscose fabric
Price: $39.99 CAD
Comfort: It’s basically like wearing a dressing gown, the comfort level couldn’t be any higher and it’s nice and cool for warmer days. I reach for this dress often because of its comfort and ease to wear.
DRESS 2: Light Floral Button Front Dress
Same dress and description as above.
DRESS 3: A-Line Dress in Light Pink
Fit: Short, A-line dress in airy woven fabric. Small, ruffled collar, V-shaped opening at front with ties, and short raglan sleeves with flounced cuffs. Gathered seam at lower section for added volume. Lined. I’m wearing a size M which is my normal dress size. True to size.
Fabric: Lining 100% polyester, shell 100% polyester.
Price: $ 34.99 CAD
Comfort: Oversized flowy light fabric with a lose sleeve allowing for tons of room and protection from the sun. This dress couldn’t be more comfortable if it tried.
DRESS 4: Chiffon Dress in Powder Pink Floral
Fit: Long dress in airy, woven fabric. Round neckline, opening at front of neck with short strings to tie if desired, and ruffles at front extending over shoulders to back. Long dolman sleeves with narrow elastic at cuffs. Narrow, elasticized seam at waist. Jersey liner dress.
Fabric: 100% recycled polyester.
Price: $59.99 Conscious Exclusive
Comfort: The oversized fit makes it really comfortable, but it is a bit long so watch out when you’re walking or going u stairs as I’ve gotten caught on the dress a few times. The elastic sleeves are a bit annoying but all in all it’s again like an oversized nightgown, very comfortable lose fit like the above 3 dresses.
How to Wear Nightgown Inspired Summer Dresses
Since all 3 dresses are similar in fit and style, you can pair them with sneakers, slides, flip flops and even boots come fall.
I would recommend a cropped jacket for the longer dresses or a long trench coat. The shorter dress can also pair with a cropped jacket, cropped sweater or long cardigan with boots.

If you prefer added warmth, each of these dresses could easily be worn with leggings underneath or skin coloured nylons.
In terms of shape, I would recommend tying the belt on dress #1 and #2 tight as it adds shape to the look, and pushing the sleeves up on dress #4 for more shape as well.
You could also add a belt of your own to each of these dresses to accentuate your waistline. But that’s personal preference.
Saving Theses Dresses For Reference
H&M is notorious for selling out of their best pieces quickly, and going back to find a dress you once saw on their site is a nightmare.
It’s basically like Instagram, the item gets lost so quickly on their feed you have to search for it later on. In order to prevent this, I recommend saving this post to one of your Pinterest boards.
I hope you guys liked this post and got some inspiration from these dresses! I’m calling it now, nightgown inspired dresses are the IT piece this summer 2020.
