What is Fall Makeup and Skincare

Makeup and skincare for fall means more rich deep tones and perhaps a heavier application than a summer beauty routine, as well as a shift to more luxurious rich skincare products for your face to help combat dry skin caused by the weather.

How to Transition Your Makeup and Skincare for Fall

  1. Determine your wants and needs, this could be the size of your collection to what brands you want to shop for and what products you want in your routine. Also take a look at your makeup and skincare concerns and what type of formulas you will need for fall.
  2. Look at what you already own and determine what products can be brought into fall. What gaps do you have in your collection, what can you do without and what do you need to add.
  3. Use guides like this for fall makeup looks to get inspiration from, and skincare routine tips.

Must Have Fall Makeup and Skincare

While keeping your makeup and skincare routine minimalist is something I always preach, there are still a few products that are a must in every makeup and skincare routine.

Must have fall makeup products

  1. A deep rosy blush- This one from Nudestix is a multi tasking balm you can use on your cheeks, lips and eyes. The two shades warm up the face and add a pretty flushed look.
  2. Berry lipstick or lip balm- A berry lip is a must for fall makeup. Buxom has released a sheer berry lip plumping balm that’s so easy to apply and really moisturizing.
  3. Earthy eyeshadow- Going darker with your eyeshadow is a common fall makeup move. Create smoky eye look for nighttime or an earthy daytime look with the Lorac Pro Palette Artist Edition. Every colour in this palette is wearable for so many sexy fall makeup looks.

How to Apply Fall Makeup

Build on each look shown below, by simply adding more product to the eyes and lips you can create different makeup looks for fall easily.

Fall Makeup Looks & Routine

To show you these makeup products in action here are three makeup ideas for fall looks using the products mentioned above to achieve different fall makeup looks.

Look 1: Fall daytime makeup look

A minimalist fall daytime makeup look that will take you out for coffee with friends, at the office or running errands throughout the day. I used the Nudestix blush in shade Sweet Peach Peony, Buxom lip balm and shade clay from the Lorac palette on the eyes.

Look 2: Fall evening makeup look

This look is perfect for an evening dinner or drinks with friends or a work event. A bit more product than a daytime look without the smoky eye of an evening fall makeup look. I added more blush this time using shade body language for a deeper colour, and added shades jet black liner and suede from the Lorac palette.

Look 3: Fall night time dark makeup look

This sexy fall night time dark makeup look is a sexy smoky one perfect for nights out, fancy events or a special occasion. This look might seem similar to look 2 but it has a much deeper eye. I added Body language blush to the lips for more colour and brown sugar from the Lorac palette to the eyes which is a deep rich brown.

Must have fall skincare products

  1. A luxurious facial moisturizer- Progressive skincare brand High Beauty uses cannabis sativa seed oil in their products that provide high-potency antioxidants your skin needs during the cooler months.
  2. Cleanser- The High Priority Cleansing foam from High Beauty is another plant based product that provides wonderful antioxidants to the skin, I love a foam cleanser to really clean the skin after wearing heavier makeup all day.
  3. A gentle toner- Neal’s Yard Rejuvenating Frankincense Toner is formulated with aloe vera to soothe and hydrate. A toner is good to add into your skincare routine because it helps balance the skin and remove any excess dirt, makeup and impurities.

The benefits of herbal beauty care products

The benefits of herbal beauty care products are all in the botanical ingredients. Things like antioxidants and natural vitamins are great for the skin, think if them like food for your skin!

Fall Makeup and Skincare Routine

My fall makeup routine begins with a light layer of foundation, blush and eye makeup for a fall daytime makeup look and is easily transitioned into evening and into the night by adding a bolder lip, more blush and a smoky eye.

My fall skincare routine begins in the morning with splashing my face with water and adding a luxurious moisturizer like the High Five moisturizer by High Beauty. After that I simply add my facial SPF and I’m good to go for the day. My evening fall skincare routine begins by using a cleansing foam to get rid of the day, a soothing toner and an evening moisturizer.

Keeping things simple but precise and consistent is what makes a good skincare routine for any season. Fall is especially nice because the moisturizers tend to me more luxurious- which is always a good thing.
