This post is a review of two Samara bags and the jewelry box.

If you’ve been eyeing Samara bags for a while now and either don’t know which style to choose, or you’re simply wondering what the quality is like for the price this post covers all of that. I ordered these pieces a few months ago and have had them on repeat for various uses ever since, so I have a solid idea of the functionality, design, versatility and quality of each piece.

Where are Samara bags made?

Based in Toronto, Ontario Samara is a female founded and operated company on a mission to provide great quality vegan leather handbags without compromising on style and function. A lot of vegan leather is poor quality, dyed in colours that aren’t really wearable, or the style is just not right.

Samara works with a small factory in Europe that creates their apple leather that are a waste byproduct of the apple juicing industry.

The Quality of Samara Vegan Leather Bags

Samara creates innovative pieces designed to last by replacing plastics completely. Instead they use PU which is water based and microfibre which are both less toxic for the environment. They used plant based materials like apple leather, that is both friendly to the environment and cruelty free while remaining smooth as leather.

Samara bags are made from vegan leather while other pieces are made from different sustainable materials. Recycled plastic bottles (scarves), vegan leather, castor seeds (sun glasses), bamboo (their lounge collection), and recycled ocean plastics (backpack). Just search “Our Materials” on their site and you can browse products my material.

Samara is More Than A Bag Brand

If you’re still on the fence know that a portion of Samara’s profits goes towards The Soular Backpack initiative, which provides children in Kenya a backpack fitted with a solar panel so that they can do their homework without Kerosene. This initiative also employs women in Kenya which creates sustainable change.

One of the key factors in empowering women is through economic support. By providing women with financial opportunities they can better support their families, learn and develop skills, foster purpose and self esteem and helps support her community as well. Economic support is the start to empowerment, companies and brands that help women do so without any extra reward. Think about supporting these brands rather than the big corporations who give back nothing.

Review of the Samara Jewelry Box

I’m one of those people who keeps their jewelry everywhere. This results in pieces getting lost, me just forgetting that I own them, and just all around chaos. I’ve started building a jewelry capsule collection and wanted somewhere to store my pieces for both at home and for on the go so I don’t lose them and to keep the quality the best it can be.

The jewelry box actually came free with my purchase of the two items below, I’m not sure if that was a deal they had going on at the time or if that’s always on but I’m SO glad I have it. It’s been a game changer in my overall organization of my jewelry and the box fits in with my home decor.

It has multiple interior compartments, an elastic pocket for extra jewelry, is scratch proof, and comes in three colours. It’s also made from vegan leather and has a pretty gold zipper. It’s super functional and fits exactly what I need.

Review of the Samara MacBook Laptop Sleeve in Tan

I wanted to ditch my ugly laptop cover in place of something a little nicer, but keeping in with my style and love of minimalism. Laptop covers and skins get really dirty and I don’t like that my laptop can’t breathe the way it should. I chose the Samara MacBook Laptop Sleeve in tan to match my bag and it’s the perfect shade.

It’s part of the rich collection and made of vegan leather and a vegan suede inside it comes in two sizes depending on your MacBook, a 13″ and a 15″ and is available in 6 shades. I went with the 15″ and it’s the perfect fit, it keeps my laptop safe and looks chic in the process.

Review of the Samara Fanny Pack in Tan

This is my favourite piece out of the three in this review. Samara bags are gorgeous but this triples as a waist bag, a belt, a clutch, and a cross body bag and also comes with a thick strap and a thin depending on what you like. So you can play around with the straps for completely different looks. The versatility is so amazing I can actually wear it with any type of outfit for any occasion. The crossbody and belt style is perfect for hikes, while the clutch is perfect for fancier nights out.

Samara Fanny Pack Bag Styled 4 Ways

If you’re a capsule wardrobe builder and love creating as many styles with one piece you’ll love this, it would be perfect for work.

The Fanny Pack comes in 4 colours and is made of vegan leather. It has three card slots on the inside, a gold closure and gold hardware at the belt. It also fits my iPhone, keys, lipstick, coins, and sunglasses. I have to admit it’s a tight squeeze but it works. Without my keys the inside is roomy.

Think of this as the one bag for all work outfits and occasions. The clutch would be perfect for meetings, the belt or cross body for running errands or grabbing lunch, and the shoulder for work events. I’ve also saved money because I’m not buying three bags for three different looks or occasions. I have an all in one bag in a versatile and timeless style.

Hi Katrina, I do find them soft but firm, so they keep their shape but have a nice flexibility to them.
