I actually started browsing wedge espadrilles a while back before coming to a decision, even as far back as summer 2019. They’re all so beautiful and versatile it’s actually hard to choose one style. Ultimately I landed on the Carina 60 Satin and Jute wedges in cream by Castaner, the heel height was just right, I loved the detail on the lace up part of the shoe, and the colour was ideal for my current wardrobe.

How to Style Castaner Espadrilles

Since Castaner espadrilles are such a classic style you can have some fun with how you style them. Personally, I like to opt for delicate natural fabrics, romantic styles with purposeful fits. Since the wedge espadrille ties around the ankle I find that you can pair them with loose fitting pieces or structured, the possibilities are endless. That’s the beauty of these espadrilles.

Are Castaner Espadrilles Comfortable?

On a comfort level I would give them a 10/10. The sole is cushioned, the tie around the ankle is soft and the low wedge heel leaves no discomfort. Castaner Espadrilles are meant to be a comfortable summer shoe and they are just that. I’ve worn mine running errands, grocery shopping, leisurely walks down by the lake and find them to be incredibly comfortable.

The only thing I would say is they’re not the type of shoe you can easily run around in like a pair of flop flops because flip flops are meant to be more of a rough shoe, Castaner wedges are of course heavier than flip flops and meant for dressier occasions.

Are Castaner wedges worth it?

1000% yes. The craftsmanship and art that goes into the design of the shoe is wonderful, the Carina wedge espadrilles are incredibly beautiful and the detail is lovely. I can’t say enough about the price being worth it, they feel incredibly durable and come with a dust bag for added protection while in storage.

Fit

Are Castaner wedges true to size?

Yes, I went with my regular size 8 US which is a 39 EU and they fit perfectly. I haven’t noticed any stretching yet but only time will tell on that front.

Quality

How to clean Castaner wedges?

I haven’t had mine long enough for them to get really dirty but I have a natural detergent that I use for spot removal with warm water, that’s mainly used on the canvas part that covers your toes. For the wedge part I would use a toothbrush with warm water and some detergent.

Style

How to tie Castaner espadrilles

Styling your Castaner espadrilles is the fun part! I like to wrap the ankle lace up three times around my ankle and tie it at the back. You could also wrap them around twice and tie at the front. It’s up to you but have fun with it!
