Yesterday I shared with you guys on my Instagram feed my favourite creamy red lipstick, and every time I post a bold lip I get quite a few questions and interest in the product. So in todays post I’m sharing with you my favourite creamy red lipstick at the moment, shade Autumn by Cheekbone Beauty.
Throughout my daily life I stay quite safe when it comes to lipstick shades, choosing nudes, plums, pinks and peaches with somewhat of a sheer formula. I’m sure you guys do this too, even without thinking about it!
The reason is they’re just easier to wear am I right?! You don’t have to worry about smudging, colour transfer, or messy application. You can quickly and easily apply on the go with minimal effort or care.
AND if you’re anything like me, your lipstick usually ends up on your chin and hands. Who knows how! I am the messiest person on this earth so I need quick and easy makeup products.
On the reverse side of that, the feeling of a carefully applied makeup look and the sense of confidence from a bold colour is absolutely necessary in my life.
For special occasions that I’m excited for I’ll take the time and take extra care of my get ready routine, this applies for a beautiful red lip look.
There is room for both, and moving from one to another has merit.
A Classic Creamy Red Lipstick
I was originally gifted this lipstick by Jen Harper, founder of Cheekbone at an International Women’s Day event and immediately fell in love.
Red lipstick is meant to be a statement, it boosts confidence immediately and is a physical display of personality.
Just think about it, when you wear a red lip you’re most likely feeling in the mood to be noticed. When Im feeling confident I love to put on a red lip. It speaks for itself.

Autumn is named after the brave and inspiring Anishnaabekwe from Wikwemikong Unceded Territory in Northern Ontario, Autumn Peltier. Autumn is a 15 year old kwe that has been an advocate and fighting for our water since she was just 8 years old. Because Autumn has a cool undertone it means the red is a true red and it works really well with any skin tone. Plus the meaning behind the shade is beautiful. The texture is creamy and thick with no pilling of any kind.

When you are applying the lipstick, make sure to be very careful and precise. Once the formula is on your skin it’s hard to remove it completely, which is a good thing for long wear you just have to be care when applying.
How I Wear Red Lipstick
Red lipstick is a statement, so when I wear it the rest of my makeup remains neutral as to not take away from the bold lip. I like it to be front and centre.
Instead, I’ll add a bit of mascara, style my eyebrows as usual and add a bit of bronzer to my cheeks. As seen in the photos this warms up my face and leaves a contrasting red lip.

Normally, a lip liner would be necessary, but I find the applicator for the Autumn lipstick to be good enough without a liner. The tip is angled for precision and if you apply slowly enough you really don’t need a liner. Unless you need the lines to be sharp and seamless otherwise I wear it without, and it looks great.
PRO TIP:
Make sure to dab with paper after applying to reduce excess product from getting onto your teeth. I do this twice just to make sure, there’s nothing worse than talking to someone with lipstick covering your four front teeth.
Tips and things I’ve learned from wearing a red lip
- Make sure to have Q-tips or Kleenex on hand for touch ups.
- Undertones matter.
- Formula and texture matters.
- You really feel like you’re on top of the world when you have that perfect bold pout.
- Red lipstick can make any outfit look put together. Form a hoodie and leggings to a sheer blouse to a fancy cocktail dress. It has its place and elevates any piece of clothing.
