4 Step Healthy Morning Routine for Your Mind

Have you ever wanted to create a morning routine that sets you up for the day but don’t know where to start? This healthy morning routine consists of 4 small practices and isn’t meant to increase productivity rather to clear your mind, and set you up for a good day. Whatever that looks like to you. So if you’re interested in a morning routine that’s a little bit different, but actually actionable then keep on reading!

Why Have a Healthy Morning Routine

I recently finished reading the book The 5am Club by Robin Sharma which basically takes you through a step by step process based on neuroscience to help you amplify your morning, and have a better life in the process. Getting up at 5am simply doesn’t work for me, but a lot of what he taught made sense and I’ve been testing a few routines to find out what works the best for me. This can also be replicated for those who also want to minimize their mornings for the best possible outcome without getting all complex about it.

Start your day with a healthy routine that’s good for your mind, I honestly feel like wellness starts with your mind before anything else. So I hope this routine is as useful to you as much as it is to me!

A Healthy Morning Routine Starts With Skincare

Creating a healthy morning routine starts with healthy morning habits and is something that starts from the inside out. If you feel good on the inside you’ll likely continue with the routine and it will begin to become standard practice. I always start my morning off by washing my face and applying my moisturizer and SPF, as well as moisturizing my hands and lips before doing anything else.

Skincare is such a personal process and really doesn’t take very long. My favourite moisturizer to use in the morning is IT Cosmetics Confidence in a Cream which is ultra hydrating with hyaluronic acid and ceramides that plump your skin, aking you feel awake and ready for the day.

Start Your Day With Coffee and Enjoy a Moment of Pleasure

If you don’t drink coffee that’s totally fine, any beverage will do. I will usually have a big glass of water first followed by my favourite coffee. There’s something about coffee that’s so comforting but also gets you extremely excited to wake up. It’s one of those self care practices that doesn’t get enough attention and is one that is high priority in my healthy morning routine.

Thrive Global released an article on why coffee makes us feel so happy which can begin from the aromatic and sensory pleasures to the actual chemicals within the coffee. The article really is worth the read, it’s fascinating.

Journaling A Simple Morning Routine and Mindfulness Practice

If you’re not into journaling hear me out, because neither was I! That is until this journal changed my perspective. Within a few minutes you can change your mindset for the entire day, this change has such lasting and powerful effects. I honestly don’t know how I haven’t journaled this way before and added it to my healthy morning routine. By writing down positive thoughts onto paper, your life actually changes perspective and things aren’t exactly how you might have thought.

I highly recommend adding this practice into your healthy morning routine, it’s such a simple yet effective way to change your life. I do this while drinking my morning coffee and the two practices together is such a great mood boost.

Moment of Silence

The last thing I like to do before starting my day is having a moment of silence, just sitting and being quiet and in my own space. If you think you don’t have enough time you definitely do! This only has to take a few minutes, or even just 30 seconds. I would say this is similar to meditating in the sense that you’re clearing your mind of all thoughts, and being present.
