If you’re looking for a lightweight hair oil for growth and for year round results try this hair oil, I’ve tried them all and Ouai is the best on the market. If you don’t have a lot of time this post is for you as it’s only one step in your hair care routine, and one product.

Ouai hair oil has been in my hair care rotation for years, so needless to say it’s tried and tested and continues to impress after each use.

My hair is the topic I get asked about the most on Instagram, my blog, and in real life. It seems everyone wants to know what to use on their hair to help growth and to keep it staying strong.

While I don’t have a mind blowing solution for you I do have a simple tool that’s both accessible and trusted. Drum rolllllll….. I use hair oil to protect the strands of my hair from breaking!

This in return helps with its growth and health.

Apart from hair oil, I don’t use any special shampoo or conditioner but I make sure my post shower routine is thoughtful and purposeful.

This is something that requires little to no effort on my part, just a simple added step to my regular haircare routine. The products you use make a difference in the quality and overall appearance of your hair, just choose wisely.

What is Ouai Hair Oil?

Ouai is a brand created by Jenn Atkin, a celebrity hair stylist who just so happens to know the ins and outs of hair. Jenn knows what ingredients work and what makes a good hair product.

The smell alone is intoxicating, and the oil is thin and light weight without being sticky or weighing your hair down. It helps smooth out frizz and there’s also zero residue, so that’s pretty awesome.

You can use this oil on straight, wavy, curly and coiled hair whether it’s thin, thick, or medium.

This hair oil is packed with African galanga, ama oil, and Asian borage oils to keep colour from fading and protect hair from heat damage. It also addresses split ends, and has a fragrance with notes of violet, gardenia, ylang ylang, and white musk.

How to use Lightweight Hair Oil

Oil based products are becoming increasingly popular in beauty products because they’re typically thicker, and often replicate a luxurious spa treatment.

Everyone has a different method, but I apply 1-2 pumps onto my palms BEFORE brushing it, and gently press into the hair making a fist with your hands. Almost like you’re squeezing your hair. Then I gently brush my hair.

This method works more effectively as it absorbs into the strands rather than just being smeared across, the more care you out into it the better results.

Benefits I’ve experienced

In terms of growth, hair oil growth is real. Having a protectant on your hair prior to brushing or styling it makes a world of difference, before using the Ouai hair oil my brush would rip my hair near the ends causing quite a bit of breakage.

I’ve also noticed my ends are healthier and more moisturized, again the dryer the more breakage so this lightweight hair oil works to prevent that.

I cut my hair up to my ears 6 years ago and tried a lot of tricks, hair oil being the most successful because it really gets into the strands and protects through prevention.

Think of it as a shield.

Not only that, but it protects daily from sun damage and keeps my hair soft and healthy.

Bonus tip: You can use this lightweight hair oil oil as a hair mask by applying it all over your hair and massage into the roots, sleep on it and then rinse it out in the morning.
